Shoppers don’t arrive with a support ticket. They arrive with a buying question — does this run small, is it in black, will it get here by Friday? The Adaptive Chat Widget answers it on the spot, before uncertainty becomes a closed tab.
Most chat widgets are one fixed shape wherever they sit on the page. This one isn’t. It changes shape with the question, and it stays useful whether that question takes one line or ten.

What’s changing, and what stays the same
| What | Change |
|---|---|
| Widget layout | New — floats for a quick answer, docks to the side while the shopper keeps browsing, expands full screen for more detail |
| Product guidance on the PDP | Already available — the agent has always answered fit, stock, color, and delivery questions; now presented consistently across every layout state |
| Add to Shopify cart | Already available — the agent has always been able to move a shopper’s chosen variant into their Shopify cart; carried into the new layout |
| Loyalty visibility | Already available — points and what a shopper would earn continue to show inside the widget while they’re deciding |
| Underlying agent, install | Same — still runs on your existing bitChat install and AI Studio agent |
Nothing about how bitChat installs or how your agent is configured changes. This release changes what the widget looks like and does while a shopper is on your storefront — not the setup behind it.
A widget that moves with the shopper
The conversation opens over your storefront and moves with the shopper instead of asking them to come to it. It can float for a quick answer, dock to the side while they keep browsing the rest of the page, or expand to full screen when the question needs more room — a return, a sizing question across three products, a longer back-and-forth. The layout adapts; the conversation and the context it’s holding stay connected across all three.
From product question to Shopify cart
Your agent can answer the questions that actually stall a purchase — does this run small, is it in stock, is it available in black, will it arrive before Friday — right on the product page, instead of routing the shopper to an FAQ page or a support queue. It can also guide the choice itself: help select the right product or variant based on what the shopper’s asking for, and move the selected item straight into the Shopify cart. The shopper never has to leave the page they were already looking at to act on the answer.
This runs on the same agent whether your team is online or not — a question at 11pm gets the same product-page answer as one at 11am.
Loyalty, explained while they’re still deciding
The widget shows a shopper what they’d earn in bitLoyalty (Beta · requires Shopify) points on the item they’re looking at, right inside the conversation — not buried on a separate rewards page they’d have to go find. A shopper weighing whether to buy sees the loyalty upside as part of the decision, not as a surprise after checkout — and that carries through unchanged in the new adaptive layout.
What this means for your business
01. Keep shoppers from leaving. Answer questions about fit, stock, and delivery while the shopper is still considering the purchase — including the hours your team is offline, which is most of them.
02. Get more from a lean team. Let the agent handle the repeat questions and product guidance, and bring your people in only when a conversation genuinely needs one.
03. Shorten the path to purchase. Product guidance, loyalty value, and Add to Cart all stay inside one connected storefront experience, so there are fewer moments where an interested shopper drifts off to check somewhere else and doesn’t come back.

FAQ
Does the Adaptive Chat Widget work on a non-Shopify storefront? The floating/docked/full-screen layout and product guidance work the same way everywhere bitChat runs. The direct-to-cart action is Shopify-specific — on bitbybit Commerce, the agent creates a Draft Order for the item instead of adding it straight to a cart, so it’s ready for your team to review and approve.
Does full-screen mode replace the floating bubble? No — the widget starts in whichever state fits the moment and expands or docks as the conversation needs more room. A shopper isn’t forced into full screen for a one-line question.
Do I need to reconfigure anything to turn this on? No rebuild, no reconfiguration. This is a display choice — it changes how the widget presents itself to a shopper (float, dock, or full screen) to smooth their path from question to purchase. Your bitChat install and agent configuration stay exactly as they are.
Can a shopper still reach a human? Yes. Escalation to your team is still available from any state of the widget — the adaptive layout changes how the agent presents itself, not whether a human can step in.
