Jakarta, February 20, 2025Meta Indonesia, together with bitbybit and Blend Media, hosted WhatsApp + AI Commerce, from Chat to Checkout at the Meta Indonesia office in Jakarta. The event covered the development of AI inside the WhatsApp ecosystem, and how AI can help businesses improve the customer experience from conversation through transaction.

The event featured keynotes from William Tunggaldjaja (CEO of bitbybit) and Affancik Hamim (Head of Industry, Meta), with Joni Tjung (CEO of Blend Media) moderating. The Q&A session also featured I Gusti Ayu Alma (Partner Solutions Manager, Meta), who shared further insights on AI in the business world.

“As a brand, we can build relationships with customers without intermediaries, without monopoly, and this is a huge opportunity for businesses to take full control over their customer experience.” — William Tunggaldjaja, CEO of bitbybit

In recent years, traditional e-commerce platforms — marketplaces and websites — have been the mainstay for retail businesses reaching customers. But dependence on third parties reduces brand control over the customer experience and the underlying customer data. With AI Studio from bitbybit, companies can now deliver a more personal, fast, and effective shopping experience directly on WhatsApp.

Borderless e-commerce with AI Studio

bitbybit introduced AI Studio as a solution that lets brands operate independently on WhatsApp. The technology enables brands to present a smarter and more interactive shopping experience through an AI Agent — one capable of understanding conversation context and providing responses grounded in reasoning rather than rule-based replies.

“With this AI Agent technology, we are taking commerce beyond websites, apps, and marketplaces. As a brand, it’s not just about selling products, but also building long-term relationships with customers.” — William Tunggaldjaja

Live demo — from chat to checkout

During the event, bitbybit ran a live demo showing how the AI Agent picks up on customer intent when viewing a product and provides relevant, informative responses. The agent doesn’t just answer; it recommends products, sends checkout reminders, and optimises interactions to increase conversions.

AI Studio from bitbybit shipped with three operator-facing capabilities that make it easier for brands to adopt AI without technical barriers:

  • No coding required — anyone on the team can build an agent.
  • Built-in skillsets — the AI Agent operates immediately across common business scenarios.
  • AI Playground — operators test AI behaviour and personas against simulated customer scenarios before going live.

Meta support for AI commerce

Affancik Hamim, Head of Industry at Meta, emphasised the importance of this innovation in supporting business growth.

“In the last three years, Meta has invested heavily in AI. Together with partners like bitbybit and Blend Media, we ensure businesses can utilise the latest features and technology from Meta to get optimal results from WhatsApp Commerce implementation.” — Affancik Hamim, Head of Industry, Meta

With the launch of AI Studio, bitbybit further strengthened its position in chat-based e-commerce — letting brands reach more customers, increase interaction, and drive conversions directly on WhatsApp without traditional platform limitations.
