For twenty years, the web was where brands lived — voice, story, product, support, all on a page someone visited. That era is closing. Customers now ask, decide, and buy inside the conversations they already use every day.

This isn't a feature upgrade. It's structural. Brand stops meaning what's displayed on a site. It starts meaning how your agent speaks, what it remembers, and how it recognizes the customer in front of it.

We built bitbybit on one bet: if the agent is the brand, then the quality of the agent is the most important thing a company can get right. Quality has to be reachable — not gated behind a year-long integration. It has to be consistent — same voice across every channel, every shift. And it has to compound — every interaction making the next one sharper.

The thesis isn't theoretical. I founded Modern Group — our D2C house of brands — and ran AsmaraKu, one of those brands, on WhatsApp myself. I ran campaigns at Lazada and saw what marketplaces charge sellers and hold from them. Before that, country roles at Path and Zomato, and earlier years at Microsoft and UC Berkeley — a career spent making global products work for local customers, on both sides of the platform-and-merchant line.
